Andrew, pianist, has been named the winner of numerous awards in state, national, and international piano competitions. He was the first prize winner of the San Jose International Piano Competition and the recipient of the “Most Promising Young Talent” award. Andrew’s other recent accolades include the first prize winner of the 2020 ENKOR International Music Competition, the 2020 and 2021 National YoungArts winner, the 2019 and 2020 Spotlight winner, the two-time first prize winner at the Los Angeles International Piano Competition and the three-time first-place winner of the MTAC State Piano Solo & Concerto Competition. Amidst his busy schedule, he continues to demonstrate his immense dedication to the program by sharing his music. In addition to his commitment as the president, he has been volunteering his time to coach PAA chamber ensembles to re-establish our live recital series after 1.5 years of presenting our concerts virtually.

As an avid orchestral/chamber musician and soloist, Kyle is currently the concertmaster of both the DBHS Symphony Orchestra and Claremont Young Musicians Orchestra. Most recently, Kyle attended the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Young Artists Instrumental Program (BUTI YAIP) summer of 2021. In 2019, Kyle won the first-prize of the DBHS Concerto Competition and performed Zigeunerweisen with the DBHS Symphony Orchestra. He is immensely dedicated to providing invaluable musical experiences for students with autism. He shares his passion by serving as the cofounder and president of Diamond Bar High School Strike A Chord Project, a student-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that teaches musical instruments to students from the ASD-I (Autism Spectrum Disorder Institute) Special Education program on campus. |
In addition to being an officer of Performing Arts Academy, Carissa also serves as the secretary of the band program and is involved in ensembles in and outside of school. Throughout middle and high school, she has been selected to perform in the California All Southern and All State Ensembles for several consecutive years. As a freshman, she was the principal oboist of the Claremont Young Musicians Intermezzo Orchestra and later became a member of the Colburn Youth Orchestra in the years following. She has participated in several programs over the summer including Idyllwild Summer Music Program, Interlochen Arts Camp, and has also volunteered at South Pointe Middle School's summer music program assisting beginner oboists. Along with music, Carissa enjoys cooking, making jewelry, and running. Captain of the varsity cross country and track team, she hopes to compete on the collegiate level.

Over a period of years in high school, Alan Lu, Tuba, has taken every possible opportunity to be actively engaged in music at DBHS. He has been a member of the DBHS Performing Arts Academy, Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble and Marching Band. This academic year as a senior, he serves as a leader and role model in the instrumental music department. In addition to his responsibility as Band President, Section Leader, Performing Arts Academy Advisory Board Member and Principal Tuba in the all of the ensembles, he volunteers his time to coach PAA Chamber Ensembles to help build a new generation of brass players in the program. As a soloist, he was awarded 2nd place in the 2022 PSYO Concerto Competition held by the Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra where he holds a Principal Tuba Position. Currently under the tutelage of Gabriel Sears, he wishes to further his study in music at the collegiate level.
